Bill was born in Independence, Missouri on December 25, 1931. He graduated from Western Military Academy of Alton, IL, and served in the Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of First Sargent. After the war, Bill continued his education to receive a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
Bill was married to Jane H. Curtis on August 2, 1975; they were married 40 years. Bill worked as a mechanical engineer and was one of the founding partners of Intellitec. Being a partner in a successful small business was one of the crowning achievements of his life. He worked at Intellitec until his retirement in 2001. Over the course of his career Bill was credited with 38 patents. One of the patents was for the 8 Track Tape Player. This was the first car audio system that was not part of the radio. Bill loved being an engineer. He could fix anything, and was happy to share his knowledge, and skills with family and friends. Whether installing a fixture, repairing an appliance or fixing a car, he was happy to help and save people a few bucks in the process. His love for engineering spilled over to cars. He was a true enthusiast. Rebuilding and restoring a salvaged Jaguar convertible was his most favorite project. Oh, how he loved that car! Bill was also an outdoorsman. He loved exploring the country in his RV and sailing. Sailing brought him to Anna Maria Island where he could pursue this passion from his backyard. When down for a visit, you were on the boat as soon as you crossed the threshold. Bill also shared his wife’s passion for travel abroad, including trips to China, Africa and a cruise around the world. He was a wonderful man, and had a wonderful life.
Bill is survived by three daughters; Krista Burns, ne. Huber, Michael Burns, Suzanne Riordan, ne. Huber, Daniel Riordan, Nancy Lynn McIntyre ne. Curtis, Andrew McIntyre, and other family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Jane H. Huber, mother Ruth A. Huber, father Leslie Holmes Huber, and Aunt Viola Babler.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Wounded Warriors Foundation. The family of William B. Huber wishes to thank Freedom Village and Right at Home Senior Care for the loving care they provided Bill these last few years, until his end of days.
