Susan Kaye Shapiro Prohofsky

Susan was born in The Bronx, New York to Aaron and Helen Shapiro on June 8, 1938. She graduated with a BS from Cornell University in 1960; Purdue University with an MS in 1987; and Purdue University with a PhD in 1991.

Susan was very active with Hadassah, Sons of Abraham, Sisterhood, Lafayette Jewish Community Religious School, Greater Lafayette Holocaust Remembrance Committee, and Purdue University Hillel. She was a very loving and outgoing person who loved her family and friends, her Jewish communities, and cross-stitching.

Susan is predeceased by her parents, Aaron and Helen Shapiro, her husband Earl Prohofsky, and her son Joel (Shana). She is survived by her sons Allen (Judy) and David (Catherine), daughter Rebecca (Enrique), grandchildren Aaron, Alyssa, Abigail, Liad, Tamar, Joshua, Benjamin, Idan, Daniel, Eli, and Leo, and her sister Judy Greenblatt (Sam).

A funeral service for Susan will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 11:45 AM at Temple Beth Sholom, 1050 S Tuttle Ave, Sarasota, FL 34237. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 12:45 PM at Temple Beth Sholom Cemetery, 801 Circus Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34232.
