Steve C. Troiano, age 87 of Sarasota, FL passed away January 3, 2017 after a long illness. He was born August 9, 1929 in New York, NY to Domenico and Pasqua Troiano. Steve worked as an Independent Insurance Agent for Northwestern Mutual Insurance Co. and also spent most of his life entertaining as a vocalist and was well known for his signature song, “My Way”. Steve was most proud of his membership with Knights of Columbus. He was a former Grand Knight in Lindenhurst, NY and Color Corp Commander of the 4th degree that welcomed Pope Paul when he visited the US at Yankee Stadium. He currently is a member of St. Jude Council and Our Lady of Charity Assembly in Sarasota. Steve also enjoyed being an active member in the Wobblers Choral Group and was a passionate New York Yankee Fan. Steve is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carmela Troiano; his children, Domenick (Linda) Troiano, Patricia (Paul) Fingar, Catherine (William) Ehlert, and Stephen (Brenda) Troiano; grandchildren, Nina (Mike) Abrams, Stephanie (Jay) Combs, Jennifer (Matthew) Mazzariello, Michael Fingar, Ashlee (Corey) Soprano, Chelsea (Adam) Snyder, Kelly Ehlert, Steven Troiano, and Nicholas Troiano; great grandchildren, Jacob, Aiden, and Lucas; and many extended family and friends. Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 3-6pm at Palms Robarts Funeral Home; 170 Honore Ave in Sarasota. A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2017at 10am at St. Jude Catholic Church; 3930 17th St. in Sarasota. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Charity Assembly.
