Shirley Boothroyd

their 64th Anniversary - Tuesday, April 10th, 2018. She was born on January 28th, 1932 in Manchester,

England and was the only child of the late Evan Wesley and Elizabeth Lewis. She leaves two daughters,

Janet (Boothroyd) Gilligan of Wakefield, RI and Lynda Boothroyd of Sarasota, Florida. She also leaves

behind her two grandchildren, Keith and Katie Gilligan.

Shirley attended Stand Grammar School for Girls in Whitefield, Manchester and then Miss Wilkinson's

Secretarial College for Gentlewomen in Manchester.

Shirley emigrated with her husband and family to this country in 1967 and settled in Amherst,

Massachusetts for 18 years. She and Geoffrey then moved to Wakefield, Rhode Island where they lived

for 28 years. Their winter home in Sarasota became their permanent residence for the past five years.

Shirley was an avid singer who participated in chorale groups and concerts in England, Massachusetts and

Rhode Island. She was most recently an active member of the Rhode Island Civic Chorale in Providence,

Rhode Island.

Service will be private by the family.
