He attended the State University of New York Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences at Buffalo earning a degree in Industrial Chemistry. He served in the US Army active duty for two years and six years in the reserves.
He worked at Linde as a chemist, where he met the love of his life Rose Marie Lalley. Their chemistry was immediate, and they married the following year forming a partnership of 64 years. They started a family that grew to five children: Robert (Jackie) Giambra of Loveland Ohio, Michael (Allison) Giambra of Rocky Hill New Jersey, Paul (Laura) Giambra of Fredericksburg Virginia, Jeanmarie Giambra of Sarasota Florida, and William (Michelle) Giambra of Bradenton Florida. Further expanding to grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 7.
In the late 1960’s Sandy accepted a position with Harwick Chemical and relocated the family to Akron Ohio where he worked for 24 years, progressing to Vice President and part of the management ownership group.
Upon retirement Sandy and Rose Marie maintained residences in Wadsworth Ohio for the summers and flocked to warm sunny Sarasota Florida during the winters as members of the Palm Aire golf community. They explored the world, traveling extensively across the US and internationally.
Sandy was proceeded in passing by RoseMarie in October of 2021. They will be interred together at the Sarasota National Veterans cemetery.
The family is planning a private celebration of life in November.
