Ruth Woody Lindquist, 89, of Sarasota, FL, passed away September 20,2011.
Ruth was born in Charleston, WV, and grew up in Richmond, VA, and Charleston, SC.
She attended Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood University) in Farmville,
VA.
An Air Force wife, Ruth made a home for her three children while moving every
few years. She worked for the Newman Company in S1.Louis, MO, and was Executive
Assistant at the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce. Her volunteer work included
serving as a Gray Lady in hospitals and recording books on tape for the vision-impaired.
A generous supporter of causes helping those in need, she was a lifelong example of
Christian charity.
Ruth is survived by her three children: David Grier Lindquist, Ph.D., of Melrose,
FL, his wife Angel and their daughter Angelica; James Gordon Lindquist, Esq., of
Tampa, FL, his wife Jane and his daughters Ashley and Kira; and Rennie Lindquist
Carter of Sarasota, FL, her husband David and their son John David (J.D.); as well as
many nieces and nephews.
Her generosity of spirit and unconditional love will always be cherished by those
whose lives she touched.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7,2011, at Ginter Park
Presbyterian Church in Richmond, VA. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to World Vision (888.511.6519;
