Robert moved to Sarasota with his family in 1983 and graduated with Honors from Sarasota HS, Class of 1987. He worked at SunTrend Products for five years, before moving to a 28 year career at PetSmart Sarasota as Assistant Manager. He liked art; hard rock, especially concerts; and loved animals. Robert was an avid collector of a variety of things; enjoyed Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, and camping. He was a loving, gentle man and a true gentleman.
Robert leaves behind his mother, Beverly, and brother, William Zimmerman; grandmother, Donna Byrd; aunts Marsha Courtois and Melanie Johnson; and uncle Steve Bly. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill, in 1992; and grandfather, Grover Byrd, in 2004.
A graveside service for Robert will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to Sarasota Humane Society.
