Robert Eugene Musgrave Sr. was born on August 23, 1933, in Aden, Illinois to Robert Calloway Musgrave and Rella Maulding. He was the 13th of their 14 children and the only one to graduate from high school.
Bob, as he was known to those close to him, resided in Owensboro, Kentucky, for most of his adult life. He worked in the logging industry for Schlumberger and Birdwell and eventually founded Tri-State Logging Incorporated in Kentucky. He was known to be a Southern gentleman and was gentle in all his ways. Bob was never angry and was a friend to anyone he met. He was also known for his generosity, helping many of his siblings financially and taking responsibility for the care of his parents in their elder years.
An athlete who loved golf and baseball, Bob played shortstop and was scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals but was drafted into the Korean War just before tryouts. He served two years in the Army during the war. Bob was also an avid golfer, owning a home for 20 years on a Golf Course in Bradenton, Florida.
Bob loved the horse racetrack, which he would visit weekly with his brother Stanley. He also loved gospel music, old-fashioned cooking (meatloaf, t-bone steak, mashed taters, green beans, carrots, coffee, white wine, and water with lemon), and having fun with the people he loved most.
As a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Bob was loved and cherished by many.
Bob Musgrave passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by all 13 of his siblings, his first wife Joanne Warner, and his second wife Linda Tucker.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his children Sherry Lynn Aldridge and Robert Eugene Musgrave Jr. and wife Valerie; his grandchildren Jody Hagaman and husband Anthony, Jamey Clauson and husband Jon, Robert Eugene Musgrave III, and Brandon Musgrave; his great-grandchildren Chase Hagaman and wife Meghan, Alexandra Hagaman, Sydney Arrant and husband Grayson, Samantha Sherfy and husband Raymond, Jonathan Clauson and wife Amanda, Josiah Clauson, and Sophia Clauson; and his great-great grandchildren Ariana Hagaman, Ryan Hagaman, Rosalie Clauson, Sansa Sherfy, and Abraham Clauson.
