Robert D. Murray

An avid reader, lifelong learner, and current events enthusiast, Bob was born on July 6, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to parents James I. and Mary M. Murray, who preceded him in death in 1975 and 1980.

For more than 51 years, Bob walked in happiness with his cherished wife, Iris M. Murray, who returned to paradise in 2013. During their marriage, Bob and Iris joyfully raised four children, and were blessed with seven grandchildren. After residing in Pittsburgh for 48 years, Bob continued life in several other cities in the country, and for the last two decades, enjoyed Sarasota, Florida as his temporal home.

Lovingly known as “Pop” by his grandchildren Helene O’Neal (38), George Scroggins (36), Veronica Murray (35), Suzanne Klassen (33), Patrick Murray (25), Kimberly Murray (22), and Julia Murray (18), Bob is also survived by three of his children: Greg Murray (51) and Diane Murray (58) of Sarasota, Florida, and Paul Murray (62) of Oakley, California; his daughter Cynthia Bruno Scroggins preceded him in death in 2023.

A visitation for Robert will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota. A Requiem Mass will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sarasota. Interment to follow Monday, October 7, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Palms Memorial Park, Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, FL 34232.
