Robert E. Lockley was married to his first & only love Joanne Marie Llewellyn Lockley for 66 years (July 2nd, 1953). He had many nicknames for her but the ones we remember most are Jo, Sef, Seffino, & Little Jo from Cocomoe. Bob and Joanne had four children, three of the four are surviving. The child who died was Frederick Vaughn Lockley at age 11 from a birth defect. The surviving children (and their spouses) are Linda Sue Lockley Morlock & Allen F. Morlock; Robert E. Lockley, Jr. & Yvonne Lockley and Alice Eileen Lockley Perry & Alexander Perry. Grandchildren (with spouses) include: Julie Gould, Kathryn Wilson & Brian Wilson, Thomas Buckner, Savannah Perry, Olivia Perry, Violetta Valerio & Alejandro Valerio, Yvonncita Lockley & Robert Alvarez, Carlos Cuellar & Paola Cuellar and Vladimir Cuellar & Karina Cuellar. Great grandchildren include: Madison Wilson, Noah Wilson, Eva Gould, Leo Gould, Alejandro Valerio, Jr., Isabella Valerio, Robertson Alvarez, Mateo Cuellar, Dayaniro Cuellar, Seiby Cuellar, Carlos Cuellar and Anahi Cuellar.
Also, loving family to be remembered are Jane and Don O’Leary and their family, Lawrence Altier and their family, Cindy and Rick Clavelli and their family, Janey and Jay Oswald and their family, the Sullivan’s and all their family. Bob graduated from New Castle High School in 1949. He went to college but was called to the service of the Army and served from February, 1953 to December, 1954. He married Joanne in July, 1953 and immediately went to serve the United States in Korea during the war. Once discharged, he and Joanne began their lives together in New Castle, PA. He completed his Bachelor degree at Slippery Rock College. He worked as the Chief Estimator at Lockley Machine company. In 1967, they moved to Sarasota, FL where they bought Uncle Bob’s Fish Camp on City Island. In 1972, Robert became a ‘Power Mechanics & Small Engine’ teacher at Sarasota High School. He attained his Master’s degree in Education and stayed at Sarasota High School until he retired.
Bob’s life centered around God, the family, humor, sports and inventions. Bob Lockley lived his life to the fullest. He left quite a legacy behind and was loved by many. He will be missed for a very long time—at least until we see him again in heaven.
