Robert Bruce Levitt, born in 1941 in Pittsburgh PA, passed away peacefully at his home in Sarasota, FL, on September 18th. He was the cherished son of Irving and Florence Levitt. Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Taube, their children, Louis and Cara Levitt, and his two grandchildren Walker and Iivi Levitt.
After primary school Robert attended Massanutten Military Academy, earning the Gentleman's Award upon graduation. He furthered his education at Indiana University, Stafford House of London, and the University of Hartford, where he was President of the Jewish organization ATID and founded Interfaith Council of UofH and the Wilderness Club. A successful real estate developer, Robert worked with his father to create Sarasota communities such as Palm Aire, Pine Run, Blackburn Point Woods, and Sarasota Main Plaza. His career began with roles at Club International for Pierre Bussetti and Union Screw.
Known for his love of reading, golf, and history, Robert's favorite words included "erudite," "antidisestablishmentarianism," and his playful phrase, "Where's the ketchup, Taube?" His warmth, humor, and passion for life left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be laid to rest at Westview Cemetery in Pittsburgh PA on Wednesday September 25th at 2pm.
