He was born on March 16, 1947 in Danbury, Connecticut to the late Viola W. and Edward J. Keating.
Robert attended Danbury High School and Western Connecticut State University before joining the United States Marines where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign, RVN Cross of Gallantry with palm & frame, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Robert retired as an officer with the Danbury Police Department.
His favorite hobby was golf, although his family meant everything to him. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He was funny, witty and spoke his mind.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Keating; a son, Tucker O'Ryan Keating (Stephanie); grandchildren, Greydon Madeira Keating, Cash Madeira Keating and Tatum Madeira Keating; his siblings, Edward Keating (Kay), Janice Cerveniski (Paul), Jane Zaloski (Robert), Patricia Iapaluccio, Bridget Lutterbach (Dave), Lori Ylagon (Victor) and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 9:00am at St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church, 8700 State Rd 72, Sarasota with committal service with military honors following at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, 34241.
