Patricia was born on December 1, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1968, during which time she lettered in many school sports activities including basketball and track. After graduation, Patricia began her career in HR personnel management at Chemical Bank in 1969 before getting married in 1972. After her first child was born, Patricia decided to take a break in her career to focus on raising the family. In 1979, the Hogan Family moved from New York to Florida, living in Miramar, Brandon, Naples, Valrico, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach before finally settling into their permanent Sarasota home in 2000.
Though the family moved many times, Patricia was always an active member in her community. She volunteered for school activities, helped organize community craft fairs at the local church, and joined her husband in working with various philanthropic endeavors. Patricia was a talented creator who enjoyed the seeing and experiencing the arts. She loved theater, museums and any live performance from a smooth jazz ensemble.
Patricia had a passion for travel and was fortunate enough to enjoy many years of seeing the world with her husband. They visited many places such as Netherlands, Mexico, Ireland, England, Scotland, Denmark and (her favorite) France. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States with her family and grandchildren, enjoying camping in cabins, white water rafting, Alaskan mud carting, leaf peeping as well as many many trips to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida.
Her spirit, energy, sense of humor and love will be greatly missed by all that know her and those that never got the chance to meet her.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, John Boyd Sr. and her mother, Dorothy Vogelsang; her sisters, Christine (Hall), Kathy (Cleary), Elaine (Mundorf) and her brother, John Boyd Jr.; and her husband of 50 years, John Laurence. Patricia is survived by her daughter Valerie; her son, Jonathan; son-in-law Ryan; grandson, Clark; granddaughter Dorothy "Dot"; and grand fur babies Little Kitty and Venkman, and several nieces and nephews.
