Marie Helen Turner, 97, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on April 21, 2019. A memorial luncheon will be held by the family on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Duff’s Original Buffet, 6010 14th Street West, Bradenton, Florida 34207. Marie was born on August 21, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Michael and Mary Foldi, who emigrated from Hungary and met in Detroit a few years earlier. She graduated from East Commerce High School in 1939, with honors for shorthand and typing. She then began work as a professional secretary in the Detroit area for 10 years until marrying Thomas Turner Jr. on April 23, 1949. Marie is survived by sons, Thomas, Donald, and James Turner; daughter, Karin Turner; granddaughters, Heather Maple and Carissa Turner; great-grandson, Hudson Rozborski; honorary grandchildren, Chris Cervantes, Brendon Kauffman, Chloe Kauffman, Matthew Henderson, and Megan Henderson; nieces, Laura Scaturro and Gail Turner; and nephews, Donald “Bruce” Turner and David Turner. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Thomas Turner Jr., her son, Robert Turner, and her sister, Irene Collier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Mana-Sota Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc., 7318 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34243.
