On December 13th, 1943 Joe entered into the Navy and served as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class until April 1946. During his active service he received a World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, Letter of Commendation, and Point System.
Joe (“Jigger Joe”) played high school and collegiate football. He received a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations in 1950 from Boston University. A majority of his career was spent working at Mitre Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts in the air defense system department.
His happiest moments were spent watching his grandchildren grow and attending their sporting events and activities. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf, painting, listening to jazz music, and was a history buff. He enjoyed going to the local YMCA weekly to work out and socialize with his friends.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Joe was preceded in death by his parents John and Josephine Giordano, and wife of 36 years, Jean Bowse Giordano. He is survived by his loving daughters Judy Terroni and husband Stephen of Sarasota, Florida, and Joy Scott and husband Charles Scott of Lakewood Ranch, Florida of which whom he resided. He had five grandchildren: Michael Terroni and wife Beth of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, Laura Perilli and husband Michael of Allentown, New Jersey, Steven Scott and wife Kelsey of Orlando, Florida, Brian Scott of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Courtney Scott of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Also, by three great-grandchildren: Vincent and Gabriella Perilli, and Nora Terroni.
