Joanna Callans

Joanna was born February 15, 1932 in Clinton, Ind. to Paul and Clella Hopper. She was raised in Parke County, Ind. along with her beloved sister Marta.

Joanna was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Michael Callans on September 5, 2010.

Joanna and Mike lived many years in Rockville, Ind. where Joanna worked for Indiana Bell until retiring to Florida in the early seventies. They had recently split their time between Florida and Nevada.

Joanna is survived by a son, Kevin M. Callans; granddaughter, Brittany Hines (Josh); three great-grandsons, Will, Conor and Brendan all of Sarasota; cousin, Katherine King; nieces, Lisa, Gloria and Kelly Dee; nephew, Mike; very special friends, Stu and Linda Vickers, Barb Cicconetti and Elves Souza.

The family wishes to thank all the friends, neighbors and medical personnel who shared this time with Joanna and her family. A special thank you to everyone at Tidewell Hospice Sarasota.

A memorial celebration will be held 6-8 p.m. December 13, 2011 at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home.
