Joan was born June 19, 1937, in Greensboro, North Carolina to James & Ruby Maness. She graduated class of 1955 with Sarasota High School and went on to become a pre-school teacher. She loved to embroider, reading, cooking, and baking – but she especially loved taking care of her family.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Jesse A. Craig. She is survived by children, Richard W (Tammy) Craig, and Cynthia J. (David) Lamb; grandchildren, Melissa Craig, Megan Craig, Jeremy (Paulina) Lamb, Matthew Lamb, Noah Gucwa, Lilly Machovina, Sofia Lamb, & Nadia Lamb.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s name be made to Shriners’ Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607, donate.LoveToTheRescue.org.
A visitation for Joan will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232.
