James Earl "Big Cat" Nelson II

April 13, 1959 - July 19, 2013

Loving son, loyal friend and Sarasota resident for ~30 years, Jim (Big Cat) Nelson died suddenly a week ago, after losing his mother, Dora, "the best roommate ever" (his words) in November. History buff, trivia master, fan of classic (aka old) movies and with a wicked sense of humor, Jim had a factoid for every occasion. The ulimate sports enthusiast -- Devil Rays, Buccaneers and especially his beloved Hoosiers -- Jim was an avid fan and believer in 'next year.' Go IU!

Preceded in death tragically by his older sister (Sandy), father (Jim) and mother (Dora), Jim is rememberd with love and affection by his sister Deb, her husband Phil, nephew Brian, beloved aunts Olive and Ella Mae, Uncle Dale, Aunt Sue and other family. Jim mentioned often his fortune in having good friends. There are no words to express our gratitude to Sharon and Ed, whose care and kindness to Jim (and mom) over the years had no limit; to Nita, dear family friend; to Tom, for wise counsel; and to Ray, Veronica and other Lunch Bunch members who offered support to Jim -- thank you.

Memorial service will be held Friday, August 2, 4 p.m.
