James C. Bos, 82, of Sarasota, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010.
He was born in Oak Park and raised in River Forest, Illinois, and following an illustrious career in labor management in the grocery industry, he retired to Keowee Key, South Carolina. He then moved to Sarasota in 1996, where he has since resided with his wife Gwen.
James was preceded in death by his first wife Susanne and his brother Harold.
He is survived by his wife Gwen; his brother John of Monroe, Wisconsin; three sons, James and wife Linda, Birmingham, Alabama; Thomas and wife Esther, Dodge City, Kansas; Robert and wife Karen, El Segundo, California; two daughters, Sandy and husband Ron Lunser, Spring Park, Minnesota; Karen and husband Chuck Ramsey, Highland Village, Texas; two stepsons, Scott Harris and wife Yvonne, Warrenville, Illinois; Tom Harris and wife Mary, Wildwood, Missouri; and stepdaughter Cynthia Mayo, Santa Rosa, California.
Surviving family members also include the following Grandchildren – Bryan and Kevin Bos, Jason and Blake Bos, Ryan and Taylor Bos, Nicole and Shannon King, Connor and Barrett Ramsey, Christian and Ali Mayo, Kimberly Bishop, Kelly Harris, as well as four Great Grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at the First Congregational United Church of Christ at 1031 South Euclid Avenue in Sarasota, on Saturday, November 6, at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Jim’s fun loving character, sense of humor and strong devotion to family and friends will be dearly missed by all those he touched.
