Jack J. Button, 81, of Sarasota, FL died August 12, 2010.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, Aug. 20 at the Palms-Robarts Funeral Home at 170 Honore Ave in Sarasota.
Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, Aug. 21 at Palms-Robarts. Burial will be at Palms Memorial Park.
Survivors include his son, Jack V. Button of Sarasota; daughter, Genevieve Mynatt of Sarasota; and 3 grandchildren,
Crystal, Jessica and Jonathan Williams.
Jack was born in Milwaukee, WI, but lived in Sarasota since 1944. He graduated from Sarasota High School in 1948 and attended
the University of Florida from 1948 to 1951. He was an avid Florida Gator football fan. He coached boys baseball (ages 13-15) in the
Sarasota Babe Ruth League for 40 years from 1955 to 1995. In earlier years he was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Sarasota,
and later a member of the First Christian Church. As a devoted Christian, he loved teaching kids how to play baseball along with helping
them to build good character and become good citizens in life. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990 as a letter carrier after 31
years of service.
