Helen A. Reed

Helen A. Reed, 89, of Sarasota, Florida formerly of Westlake, Ohio, and Providence, Rhode Island, died peacefully at home on September 25, 2015, after a sustained and courageous battle against Parkinson’s disease and stroke.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Richard; her 4 children, Tom (Cleveland), Bonnie Siegrist (Salt Lake City), Judy Huber and Richard Jr. both of Sarasota. Additionally, she leaves 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Helen was born in Providence, R.I. She earned her nursing degree from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading a good book, playing bridge or golf with the ladies of Heritage Oaks, cooking, shopping, or simply watching old but classic TV shows. Memories of her include her infectious laugh, her loving nature, and outgoing personality. Her presence will truly be missed.

A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm, at Incarnation Catholic Church on Bee Ridge Road followed by interment at Sarasota National Cemetery on Clark Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5595 Rand Blvd., Sarasota FL 34238.
