Hector Rojas-Sanchez was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was a proud long-time resident of Sarasota, FL and passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 86 years of age.
Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico (la Isla del Encanto), son of Jacobo Rojas and Inez Sanchez. He spent 50+ years in the restaurant business working at the infamous Columbia Restaurant in St. Armands Circle, being one of the first employees to assist in launching it. He later went to work at Sara Bay Country Club for 25 years.
He is survived by his son, Hector Rojas Jr; daughter, Elisa Rojas; granddaughters, Desiree Casanova, Tiffany Rojas, Serena Rojas and Erika Rojas along with his siblings, Maria Roman, Aurelio Rojas, and Antonio "Perengue" Rojas.
Some of his favorite activities include fishing, sitting outside and watching baseball. His favorite food and drinks included Ropa Vieja, Coca Cola, Whoppers Candy and Coffee, He loved to make jokes and make others laugh. He was known for his unwavering strength. His memory will be forever cherished.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday May 5th at St Jude Catholic Church from 3 - 4 PM, Please send any flowers to The Church at 3930 17th St. Sarasota FL, 34235. A graveside service, for Hector, will follow at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, in Sarasota.
