Goldie D. Ankley, of Sarasota, Florida, born November 17, 1932, in Altenburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully April 5, 2025, surrounded by family. Goldie was the youngest of 15 born to Herman C. and Susanne (Poppitz) Weber. While considering nursing school, Goldie met the love of her life, George F. Ankley, Jr., while he was visiting St. Louis on leave from the US Air Force. They were married in December 1953. Goldie followed George to England in February 1954, on the SS United States where they lived for over a year until George received an honorable discharge. They raised their children in the Chicagoland area and retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, before settling in Sarasota where they spent the last 27 years. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before George’s passing in January 2022.
Goldie is survived by her children Michelle (Jerome) Sitko, Scott (Lisa) Ankley, and Cheryl (Steve) Anderson, five grandsons, four great-grandchildren, and one due in October. Her greatest joy was spending time playing games with her family and grandsons.
A memorial service will be held on a later date.
