Geraldine M. Plitt

Geraldine M. Plitt, age 72, of Sarasota, Florida passed away on Monday February 4, 2019. Geraldine was born July 22, 1946 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Elwood and Merna (Colburn) Plitt. She graduated in 1964 from Bunnell High School in Stratford, CN. and attended U Conn.

Geraldine then began her forty year career in the travel industry. She graduated from Eastern Airlines Travel Academy then managed one of their New York reservations office. After a successful stint at Eastern, Geraldine went to work for Aristotle Onassis managing Olympic’s Chicago office.

From there her career took a serendipitous turn and the field of travel insurance opened to her. Geraldine was hired by Mutual of Omaha and discovered she was a natural sales person! She quickly worked her way up to Regional Sales Manager. When Travelex Insurance Services bought MOO’s travel insurance department Geraldine moved with them and retired from Travelex in 2012. Throughout her more than 20 years with Travelex she was reliably their Top Sales Person. But those accolades, though significant, meant less to her then the roles she was truly proud of as mentor and matriarch for the company and the business she loved!

Geraldine’s passion was always travel! Her curiosity defined her. If she had never been someplace - she wanted to go. She was fun loving, charismatic, intuitive, and a respected leader. Her wonderful sense of humor and appreciation for fine wines was legendary! Geraldine when not traveling also enjoyed tennis, swimming, boating and dancing.

She is survived by her beloved spouse of 31 years, Rose Dalsandro; daughter, Melissa Marlotti Delzer, sisters, Jaimie Plitt and Michelle Legenza, brother, John Winter; nephews, Andy Watson (Eden) and Danny Watson (Leign) and niece, Rachel Watson. Geraldine is preceded in death by her brother, Jack Plitt.

A visitation for Geraldine will be held Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232. A graveside service will occur Friday, February 15, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232.
