Geraldine J. Brennan, born June 30, 1926, went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2023, at the age of 97. She is survived by her three sons, Robert John Brennan, James Douglas Brennan and Thomas William Brennan, one daughter, Patricia Lynn Lehman, and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Brennan, and her son, Kenneth Michael Brennan. She also leaves daughters-in-law, Alexandra Brennan, Keeley Brennan, Rose Brennan and Lauri Brennan, son-in-law, Jeffrey Lehman, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Born in North Tonawanda, New York to Frank and Marion Markle Brown, she was one of two children. She married Robert A. Brennan in 1949, at the age of 22, and they began their lives together in Florida. For most of her life, she took pride in being a mother and homemaker. Her faith was important to her and she was very active and involved in her church, Southside Baptist Church, for many years.
An outgoing and friendly person, Gerry had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community. In addition to her church, she was involved in the Red Hat Society, the Kiwanis Club and was a longtime member of the Laureate Alpha Sorority. She was an avid bowler and participated in three different bowling leagues, earning many trophies while enjoying an activity she loved.
After her husband, Bob, retired, the couple enjoyed traveling together and made the decision to visit every state in the United States. They almost achieved their goal, missing only one state. They also traveled outside the U.S. and especially enjoyed visits to Ireland and Italy. Bob was the love of her life, and his passing was a difficult transition for her. She was sustained by her faith, her friends and her family. She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in the knowledge that she is enjoying the splendor of Heaven with the Lord Jesus, and that she and Bob are reunited at last.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, Florida. Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Graveside service and burial at Palms Memorial Park.
“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
