Frank is survived by his sons, Robert Arnold Hassell, Esq. and wife, Linda Johnson Hassell of Greensboro, NC, John Waite Hassell and wife, Janet Harvey Hassell of Wakefield, RI, and Lincoln Ladd Hassell and wife, Sherrell Hassell of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, Matthew L. Hassell and Kristen DiStasio and husband Andrew DiStasio, and a great-grandson, William DiStasio. He is also survived by a brother Theodore F. Hassell of Hemet. CA.
Frank was born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 8, 1922, the third of four sons of Archibald C. and Florence Braman Hassell. During World War ll he enlisted in the United States Army and served for three and one-half years as a Ranger medic and, during Battle of Peleliu in the Pacific, he was severely wounded and received a Purple Heart. He was discharged as a Sergeant in January, 1945.
After the war, Frank graduated from Wesleyan University in Durham, Connecticut and began his lengthy career in banking with the Rhode Island Hospital Trust Company, retiring as the Corporate Secretary of that historic Providence, Rhode Island bank, which later merged with other banks to form what is now the Bank of America.
Since the death of his beloved wife on November 17, 2016, Frank has resided at Bay Village where his humor, sharp intellect and warmth will surely be missed by his many friends.
There will be no memorial service at Bay Village. There will be a graveside service at a date to be set in the near future at Quidnesset Memorial Cemetery in North Kinston, Rhode Island.
