Kay was born in Danville, Illinois on December 1, 1939. She graduated from Oakwood High School and continued on to receive her LPN and BSN from Lakeview School of Nursing. Kay married Carlos Chacon on November 28th, they were married for 35 years. Kay worked as a nurse at the Vermillion County Health Department in Danville, Illinois for most of her career. She enjoyed vacationing, reading, watching sports, playing tennis, playing card games and spending time with family and friends. She was also an active volunteer at the Health Park in Venice and her church.
Kay is survived by: her husband Carlos, daughter Lisa Smith (Leon Odendaal) of Bismarck, IL, son-in-law Thom Gensler of Wenona, IL, Quequi Chacon of Danville, IL, grandchildren Zach and Mollie Smith, Allison, Lucas (Sabrina) and Joseph Gensler. Furthermore, survivors include: great grandchildren Braydin, Laila, and Sophia Gensler, sister Vernell (Dale) Myers of Champaign, IL, Arlene Fourez of Catlin, IL and many nieces and nephews. Kay had several close, meaningful friends including John, Suzette, Colin, and Sarah (James Mullins) & Gracie Coates, and TJ, Erinn, Abe, and Nora Nelson. She will forever remain in all of our hearts.
Kay is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Sheila Gensler, parents Camille and Ruby Fourez, Doris (Wilbur) Musson and brother Fred Fourez. The family of Kay wishes to thank Christ United Methodist Church and pastor Mike, of Venice, Florida. We may only hope to live our lives as fully as she did.
