Dr. Ezekiel Fred Thomas Jr.

He was born on June 10, 1936 in Ocala, Florida to the late Dr. Ezekiel F. Thomas Sr. and Buna E. (nee Gladin) Thomas.

Dr. Thomas graduated from Sarasota High School, then the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine, Magna Cum Laude in 1960.

He practiced in small animal medicine for 50 years at River Forest Animal Hospital.

He also served as a relief Veterinarian in Southwest Florida for a decade before retiring in 2019.

Dr. Thomas was a member of Sigma Chi, Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Phi Omega, Phi Sigma, Blue Key, Saddle and Sirloin, AVMA

He was an avid boater and fisherman. He also enjoyed camping, dancing, reading and time with his family. He will be remembered as a loyal, quiet and giving man. He was respected and admired by his clients. He was a literal man, a man of his word!

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Susan Thomas; children, Kathy Thomas Dougherty (Michael), Ezekiel F. Thomas III (Tina), Robyn V. Richards (Rick) and Todd K. Birmann; grandkids, Tristian G. Thomas, Colin M. Richards, Jordan T. Richards, Kyle E. Richards, Emily J. Richards, Zachary T. Birmann, Madison Birmann and Zoe Birmann.

Services will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM. located at 8700 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. A reception will immediately follow at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota.
