Dorothy Frances Zimmerman

D. Frances Zimmerman, 97, went home on October 17, 2015. She was born Dorothy Frances Gustin on February 26, 1918 in Sayre, PA., and grew up in Troy, PA. She was predeceased by her husband Harry H. Zimmerman, her two sisters Jane Kemp and Eleanor Eves, and her brother James Gustin. She is survived by her brother Richard (Dick) Gustin, two sons Harry Zimmerman Jr. and John Zimmerman, two daughters Catherine Deal and Eleanor Carney, and 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She graduated high school in Troy, PA, received her B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania and completed nurses training from the Robert Packer Training School for Nurses, in Sayre PA, in 1939. After marrying in 1945, she spent the early years in Philadelphia and Ft. Washington PA before moving to Lake Apopka, FL in 1957 and then Sarasota in 1960. She was a long time and active member of Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, enjoyed playing with the Bell Choir and helping others. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten. A memorial service will be held November 14th at Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, 6135 Beechwood Ave., Sarasota, in the Memorial Garden starting at 10:00 am reception to follow.
