Dorothy Ann (Spicer) Miller, age 87, of Sarasota, Florida passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024 after a long illness. Dorothy was born on Long Island, NY on October 12, 1937. After graduating from East Islip High School, she earned her Infant Care Technician Certificate from the Foundling Hospital in New York City.
Dorothy moved to Sarasota in 1962 and worked at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she met her future husband, Eli. The couple were married in the hospital chapel on May 16, 1964 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Known for her sweet disposition and enduring kindness, Dorothy was especially happy when she was rocking babies to sleep, traveling with Eli (favorites included New York City and Switzerland), or singing in the Sweet Adelines choir.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Eli J. Miller, of Sarasota, Florida; son, Mark Miller of Baltimore, Maryland, and his wife Kathy; daughter, Maria Kisska of Long Beach, California, and her husband Michael; 5 grandchildren, Breana, Kira and Joshua Miller; and Anne and Eva Kisska; and a host of extended family - all of whom would be happy to tell you about their favorite “Aunt Dottie” Thanksgiving baked goods.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:00 am at Sarasota Community Church, 4041 Bahia Vista St. Sarasota, FL 34232.
