Donna Lisa Bedits

Donna Lisa (Roberto) Bedits, 65, of Sarasota, formerly of Pittsburgh & Bethel Park, PA, entered into rest on April 7, 2012 after a long series of illnesses, ending with a hard fought battle with cancer.

She was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Katherine & Fred Roberto on April 19, 1946. Donna was the younger sister of the late Stella Carol Walton. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Joseph J. Bedits, and their wonderful children and spouses, Joseph F. & Sonja Bedits and Hope M. & Robert Kanotz. She also dearly loved her 3 grandchildren, Cody Bedits, and Alex & Katie Kanotz.

Donna earned her Registered Nursing degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA. She went on to work as an RN in OB/Gyn, pediatrics, and worker’s compensation case working.

In 1992, Donna & Joe moved to Sarasota, FL and bought a restaurant together, Minerva’s Restaurant, which they sold a few years later and she retired.

She was actively involved with various church groups at St. Jude’s, St. Patrick’s, and St. Martha’s Catholic Churches, and made many great friends there.

Donna’s favorite pastime was any time spent with her family. She loved spending time at the beach with her husband, kids, grandkids, and all of the many relatives who came to visit. She also loved her puppies (Cheech, Pepe, and Sophie), as well as her grandpuppies & grandkittens, and now, will join her departed pets and grandpets to watch over each other.

Donna, Ma, Mum, Mommy, Nana, Dodo, is loved by so many, and will be sorely missed. But we will have peace in knowing that she is no longer in pain, and will now be able to watch over all that she loved. We are not going to say “goodbye”, but rather “see you later”.

Viewings will be held at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home in Sarasota on Wednesday, April 11th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, with a Prayer/Rosary at 7pm at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232, 941-371-4962. The Funeral Mass will be Thurs. April 12th at 10am at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Sarasota. Services will also be held in Pittsburgh some time during the week of April 22nd.
