My mom has been a guiding influence throughout my life. Mom had a huge role in making me the man I am today.   She instilled the need to always do our best, that didn't mean we had to be the best but the best for us. Mom taught us to be compassionate  to all people and stand up for those in need. My mom taught us to love all people, embrace our differences and to always learn from one another.
She had an infectious laugh and eyes that always smiled. She always found the good in everybody and could make friends with the devil. Always the peacemaker, mom would mediate disputes by advising us to look at the situation from the other person's perspective and see if that changed anything.
My mom was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and wife.  When we visited, mom always offered food and drink, it really was her love language!   She loved her family and was always interested in what the grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing and often attended games, dances and celebrations.  Mom had many friends throughout her life that she cherished.  She spoke of them often and shared many stories about their adventures.  She liked to talk on the phone with her friends and family to keep in touch and was quite versed in texting as well! 
I had the honor of being with mom as she drew her last breath. I promised her we would all keep her love in our hearts, her memories in our heads and express love to one another in her honor.
Go in peace mom, we love you ! This is not goodbye but until we meet again. 

I met Charlotte at Water Aerobics over two years ago.  I was recently widowed and starting to make a new life for myself.  One day Charlotte asked me if I would like to go to a movie and out to dinner afterwards.  I said yes and that was the beginning of our friendship.  When we were together we would giggle and laugh like a couple of young school girls.  I felt like I had known Charlotte all of my life.   I miss my dear friend.

Charlotte was such a dear friend to our mom, Linda Vendeland. What fun they had at water aerobics and Saturday dinner and a movie. She is missed.

What can I say about my mom a very caring person loved her two sons would do anything for them she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren mom was a devoted mom I know would be at moffit cancer center with me everyday if she could have but mom we did it I’m in remission I love u ur son mike


When I think about our Grandma Charlotte I think about tradition and I remember a lot of my favorite childhood memories.

I remember Halloween nights in her neighborhood eating pizza and after trick or treating pouring all of our candy on the carpet to see what we got.  I remember Christmas Eve going to her house after church- eating dinner together and opening up our stockings and butt loads of presents, I remember Christmas shopping every year and going back to her house to model off our new stuff like a fashion show to our Papa.  I remember her and my Papa always coming to my softball games, which they couldn’t attend with out buying popcorn from the concession stand!  I remember cinnamon apples, the most simple but delicious snack that she would offer us as kids every time we visited her house.  I remember laughter and I remember love.

While none of us were ready and all of us here are filled with sorrow, I’m happy that my Grandma was able to go with our Papa who was waiting on the other side to take her hand and help her through the gates of heaven.  And I’m even happier that when we all meet again, hopefully she will already have our new heavenly traditions squared away so it will be like we never missed a day together.
