Allan Phillips, 79 years old passed away on July 5, 2024, at his home in University Park, Florida. Allan was born on July 29, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA to Katie (nee Cohen) and Samuel Phillips and lived a life filled with adventure, travel and love for his family and friends.
Allan graduated from Olney High School in 1962 and from a young age demonstrated dedication to service and leadership abilities, achieving the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America as an Eagle Scout. His dedication to service led him to enlist in the Air Force upon graduation and he served his country for four years, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam and received a good conduct and national defense service medal.
Allan was a self-made man and went on to have a 30-year career at Bell of Pennsylvania which later became AT&T. He climbed through the ranks starting as a telephone wire installer and retired as a communications systems project manager for both domestic and international companies.
Allan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marlene Phillips (nee Mattleman), and children Jeff (Susan) Cohen, Noah (Bernadine) Cohen, grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacob, Rachel, Bryce and his great-grandchild Ian. He leaves behind two sisters Ellen (Dennis) Dunklee and Marlene (Paul/deceased) Mannon as well as Bill Rosemiller and Susan (Steve) Meschler who hold a very special place in his heart and have been like siblings to him since he was a young man.
A traditional military honors service will be held on Tuesday, July 9th 9:30 prompt at Sarasota National Cemetery located at 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota Florida.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the VA for their support, the Youthful Aging Home Care for their compassionate care and to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time.
