On Friday May 8th, 2020, Alfred (Al) Laughery loving husband passed away suddenly at the age of 50.
Al was born January 5, 1970 in Mayo Maryland. He attended the local schools in Mayo/Edgewater Maryland and graduated from South River high school in 1988.
In 1996 Al met Debbie Underdown in Annapolis Maryland while he was a valet at the Annapolis Marriot Hotel and Debbie worked on the Woodwind Schooner Sailboat docked at the Marriot pier. Al and Debbie fell in love and were married on June 13, 1998. Al and Debbie moved to Sarasota Florida in 2011 where Al worked at Old Salty Dog Restaurant on City Island. Al loved his outdoor server job as he was surrounded by his family of co-workers and regulars, could be in the sun, view the beautiful Gulf waters and all of the Dolphins that visit the restaurant daily.
Al had an all-around passion for life, family, and friends, and could put a smile on everyone’s face. Al was always there with a kind word, a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen to everyone else’s problems all while living day to day with his own devastating illnesses.
Al was preceded in death by his Father Alfred Laughery III and Mother Sarah Burleson. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Underdown Laughery, Sisters, Crystal Jones (Steve), Cheryl Miller, Melissa Godwin (Bo), Amy Hixenbaugh, Brothers, Bret Burleson (Theresa), Sam Laughery (Kia), In-Laws Richard & Mariann Underdown, Sister in-laws, Cynthia Kugler and Jody Duval.
A grave side service will be held at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park 170 Honore Ave. Sarasota Fl. 34232 Friday, May 15th, 2020 at 9:30. Debbie would like to have any of AL’s family or friends to feel free to get up at the service to share a quick story or just a kind word about Al as the service is not being officiated. Debbie has also requested that everyone wear comfortable clothes. As Debbie says, and all who know Al would agree, Al was a simple man who was comfortable being himself and would want us to be ourselves and be comfortable! Al will be missed but never forgotten.
Please allow enough time to park and walk over to the Mausoleum.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmsrobartsfuneralhome.com for the Laughery family.
