William Gordon Overton Sr.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 69 years, Elsie H. Overton; his daughter, Ann Overton Caraway; his mother, Naomi Overton; his father, Lester Overton; and four brothers and five sisters.

He is survived by one daughter, Betty (Earl) Kelly of Orange Beach, AL; two sons, William G. (Cheryl) Overton, Jr. of Saraland, Alabama, and Rodger D. (Becky) Overton of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Ed) Guy of Grove Hill, AL and Vern (Larry) Newsome of Grove Hill, AL; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Rev. Overton, ordained as a minister of the gospel by The General Council of the Assemblies of God, was a good and faithful servant of God. He was the founding pastor of Satsuma First Assembly of God Church in Satsuma, AL. He kept the faith and finished his race. His last words were “Praise God forever.” His bright smile, and kind and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed by all of those who loved him. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, AL.
