The family will receive visitors on July 19th from Noon to 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the church. The graveside service will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Bill was born at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama on June 14th, 1946 to Simpson Kilgore and Gertrude Baggett Kilgore. He graduated from Vigor High School in 1965. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Texas State University and attained his Master's degree in Family Counseling from the University of Mobile. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Air Force in 1969. Over his twenty years of service, he worked to improve the educational administration and facilities available to servicemen. He would sponsor numerous cadets, all of whom held special places in his heart. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued to serve his community by working for the State of Alabama as a Veterans Employment Specialist, helping veterans get their benefits, find jobs, and housing. He retired in 2008. Starting in 2009, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels, which he loved, until 2020.
He was always active in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He delighted in coaching football, soccer, baseball, and softball. When not coaching, he could be found cheering for his kids – on the field or at the academic competition.
Bill came to know Jesus as his personal savior at a young age. He never passed up an opportunity to serve others and share his faith. Bill had been a member of Shiloh Baptist Church since 2011, where he served as deacon and on numerous committees.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Simpson Kilgore; his Mother, Gertrude Baggett Kilgore; and his sister, Patricia Kilgore Feigan. Also, going before him are special Brothers in-law, Bill Lyon, Kenny Rowell, and Geary Rowell.
