Travis Leroy Reid

Travis Leroy Reid – aka Macaroni King, CB Handle, the ole insurance man, and the tambourine man who had his own techniques, passed away peacefully at his home on July 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arginal and Katie Weaver Reid; sister, Onnie Mae Reid (Carlton) Hutchinson; and a stillborn sister. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Martha Ann Hill Reid; children, Jackie Reid Mitchell, Jerry Reid, and Janet (Danny) Carpenter; grandchildren, Joseph (Jaime) Mitchell, Amy (Garrett) Sanders, Kayla (Thomas) Stuckey, and Adam Carpenter and Bartley Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Colter Sanders, and Melody Stuckey; longtime friend and co-worker, Bill Majors; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Travis worked in the food industry as a traveling sales rep for over 50 years throughout the southeast. He also drove a special needs school bus for MCPSS until he retired in 2003. After retirement, he focused on his insurance business that he ran from 1977 until here recently. He loved to talk to people and to tell numerous jokes. He enjoyed playing instruments such as string instruments (12 string guitar, banjo, and the violin), harmonica, tambourine, spoons and maracas. He enjoyed writing songs and recorded several of them on his record label Chapel Creek Records. Travis traveled many miles with numerous families ministering the gospel of Christ through gospel music. He was the most honest, trustworthy, self-made business man you would ever meet. His advice and motto for anyone was, “Ask for the most, expect the least, and settle for the in-between.” The family would like to thank Saad’s Health Care and Gentiva Hospice for their care and kindness over the past year, especially to Heather Partin with Gentiva for all she has done. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland with Rev. Kenny Fillingim officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Joseph Mitchell, Alvin Hutchinson, Sean Lovelace, Bobby Reid, James Barnett and Jonny Reid. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Stuckey and Garrett Sanders. Soloist is Kenny Barnett.
