Shirley Savage Lawson peacefully entered into her heavenly home on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the age of 77. Shirley Ann was born in Mobile, Alabama on February 9, 1945 to the late William Thomas and Sadie Jane (Duke) Savage.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Glenn Lawson, her beloved daughter in law, Kim Lawson, her brothers Bruce Savage and Andrew Savage and sister in law Voncille Savage.
She is survived by her sons Jeff Lawson and Nathan (Hannah) Lawson, daughter Connie Busby, her grandchildren, whom she cherished, Mercedes (Josh) Cook, Brandon Lawson (Tara Principe), Ashlyn Lawson, Gracie Lawson, one great-grandchild, Ansley Busby, her brother Ray "Red" Savage (Pat), and sister in law Gale Savage. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Shirley loved Jesus and trusted Him as her Lord and Savior. She was a long time and faithful member of Wilson Avenue Baptist Church where she served alongside her husband, Glenn, for many years in ministries that included the church bus route, serving in Sunday school, the nursery and in the youth department. Shirley retired from Walmart after 15 years of service as a department manager. She was a woman of many talents and could whip up the finest cakes, create beautiful garments out of a little thread and fabric and fill her home with warmth, laughter and love. She was a source of strength and courage. She truly lived her life and testimony by loving people just as Jesus loves. As a wife, mom, granny, mawmaw, nana, aunt and friend, Shirley's light made the world a much brighter place.
Shirley’s celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Bayou Sara Baptist Church, 12 Bayou Sara Ave., Saraland, Al 36571. The family will begin receiving visitors at 12:00pm with services to start at 2:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 10000 Celeste Road Saraland, AL 36571.
Pallbearers will be Ray “Red” Savage, Ricky Savage, Tanner Williams, Larry Wayne Williams, Michael Drashman and Pete Drashman.
