Patrick Michael Neely, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025, at his home in Satsuma, Alabama. He was born in Burbank, CA, to David and Eleanor (Dyer) Neely, who predeceased him in death. As a young boy Patrick moved with his family from California to Freeport, NY, where he attended Our Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church and School, where he also served as an altar boy. After his education at Chaminade Catholic High School in Long Island, NY, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served from October 1958 until November 1964. After finishing his military service, he managed restaurants and grocery stores, until he went to work for Brown Eagle Corporation in Baton Rouge, LA. While working there he met his loving wife and best friend of 47 years, Deana. In 1990, while still working for Brown Eagle, he transferred to Mcintosh, AL, and made a home in Satsuma. After 21 years working for Brown Eagle Corporation, he retired and became a personal contractor doing home repair and remodeling.
Patrick was known for his quick wit and zest for life. He was also quick with telling a joke and making everyone laugh. He was wise and always willing to help, encouraging his wife and daughters to pursue their education and to follow their dreams. He was a voracious reader and loved to do crossword and sudoku puzzles. His favorite things included history, golf, fishing, cooking, and he could learn to do anything simply by reading a book.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Deana Sharp Neely; his two daughters, Teresa (Randy) Lawson, and Barbara (James Deshotels) Bourgoyne; grandchildren Michael Lawson, Victoria Lawson, Neely Bourgoyne, and Braeden Bourgoyne; his father-in-law, Melton Sharp; his brother, David Neely, and sister, Kathleen (Pat) Meyers; along with great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We would like to acknowledge the following: Southern Care Hospice and SAADS, and his primary caregivers, Molly Wiggins RN, Lisa Lewis, and Senait Hile, for making his last days comfortable. To his friends and neighbors, thank you for all you’ve done to support us over the years. And Radney’s Funeral Home in Saraland for handling his final arrangements. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
