Fort Valley resident Norman Bradford Cantrell passed away after a short illness in Macon, Georgia on October 8, 2023, at the age of 87. Norman was born on January 5, 1936, in Eight Mile, Alabama. His wife of 57 years, Patricia Cyriline Cantrell, parents John and Minnie Cantrell, siblings Lanora Merchant (David), Irma Elliott (Ray), John David Cantrell, Jr., Roy Cantrell, Christine Joyce Thomas (A.C.), preceded him in death and welcomed him to his heavenly home. He was further loved by extended family, as well as a community of friends.
Norman joined the United States Air Force and served faithfully for 50 years both active and civilian. He has a love for old cars and Alabama football. He had many stories and adventures for anyone with an ear to listen. He was generous, kind, and loved the Lord with all his heart.
Norman leaves a rich legacy to include two sons, John Randal Cantrell (April) and Bryan Scott Cantrell. He was deeply loved by his grandchildren Brad Cantrell (Christine), Rachel Meeks (Matt), Marley Kennedy (Chris), Matthew Mullikin, Brandon Mullikin, and Seth Cantrell and great grandchildren, Hannah Cantrell, Carson Cantrell, Easton Cantrell, Dillon Meeks, Luke Meeks, Brandon Mullikin, Aden Mullikin, and Rylee Taylor.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, 5600 Old Hwy 43, Satsuma, AL 36572 in Satsuma, Alabama. Services to honor Norman will be held graveside at 12:15 at Satsuma Cemetery, Highway 158, Satsuma, AL 36572, following the visitation.
