

Mike has made his final journey home. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on Oct. 3, 1946, a former resident of Gadsden, AL, and resident of Saraland, AL for the last 40 years. He retired from Sears after 30 years of service. He loved his family, his friends and Alabama football. Mike was a loving husband, father, pop, and friend. He was a member of the Church of God. Former pastor and dear friend, E.L. Quinley will conduct services. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Pence; stepfather, H.H. Pence; older brother, Maurice Geringer; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alton and Thelma Ryals. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elaine Geringer; two sons, Tony (Paula) Geringer of Seymour, TN and Trent (Ashley) Geringer of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Jodi, Judson, Jenna and Caroline Geringer; four brothers, Albert Geringer of Attalla, AL, H.H. (Donna) Pence, Jr. of Glencoe, AL, Paul (Robin) Pence of Hoover, AL, and Jonathan (Bonita) Pence of Douglasville, GA; one sister, Carolyn Bates of Attalla, AL; and many other dear friends and relatives. The family would like to thank his doctors and nurses and the Springhill Medical team for their help during his battle with cancer. Special thanks to hospice nurses and friends Theresa Ellison and Jenese Turner. Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are John Greene, Wayne Ryals, Neal Bailey, Alex Guraino, Larry Foster and Terry Foster.
