Marta Evelyn Newton Sheffield, age 96, died April 22, 2017. Born Jan, 31, 1921, A longtime resident of Axis, AL. Attended Sweetwater School, a member Axis Baptist Church and the last sibling of seventeen.
She is preceded in death by her parents James Wesley and Martha R. Newton, stepmother Edna Newton, loving husband William Cloatis Sheffield, Sr., son Tommy Sheffield and granddaughter Jamie Danielle Sheffield. Survivors include her son William Cloatis (Sue) Sheffield, Jr. Grandchildren Mary Elizabeth (Charles) Elkins, William Cloatis (Lacy) Sheffield III, James Kenneth (Melanie) Sheffield, Karen Denise (Leon) Yarbrough, Tommy (Barbara) Sheffield, Keith (Jennifer) Sheffield and Terrell Leon Sheffield. 13 great grandchildren and 9 great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be on Wed. April 26, 2017 from 12-2pm at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland with Funeral services at 2pm. Burial will follow in Creola Cemetery.
