Laura Ann Baker Nelson, age 87, of Saraland, Alabama passed away peacefully the evening of Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital, Mobile. She was born in Sweetwater, Alabama, on June 12, 1935 to the late Grover Orlando and Glendora June Ross Baker.
She was a member of the Beta Club and cheerleader at Thomasville High School, and fifty year member of Satsuma Chapter #515, Order of the Eastern Star. Laura loved to garden, crochet, her Alabama football, and Atlanta baseball. She will be remembered as everybody's Granny.
Laura was preceded in passing by her parents, her beloved husband; William Thomas Nelson, one brother; George Robert Baker, and one brother-in-law; Maj. L. B. Graham, Jr.
Left to cherish Laura's beautiful memories will be her daughter; Karen Savell (Larry), two sons: Randy Nelson (Jane), Tony Nelson (Tina), one beloved sister; Charlotte Graham, one sister-in-law; Margaret Tucker Baker, seven grandchildren: Thomas Savell (Ramona), Josh Savell, Melissa Nelson Mastro, Chris Nelson (Ashley), Dustin Nelson (Heather), Karen Andrews (Justin), Will Nelson, seventeen great-grandchildren, special nephew; Jeff Graham (Meredith), many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Honoring Laura as pallbearers will be Chris Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Carter Nelson, Joshua Savell, Michael Savell, Konner Savell, Thomas Samuel Savell, and William Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Savell, and Dustin Nelson.
A visitation for Laura will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, Alabama 36571. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 1:00 PM on the grounds of Aimwell Cemetery, Sweet Water, Alabama.
