James Rodney Terry - a 95 year-old native of Plateau, Alabama and longtime resident of Saraland passed away in Bay Minette on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. He was a 1938 graduate of Murphy High School an served in the United States Army as a cryptologist during World War II. An electrician by trade, Mr. Terry retired from International Paper as Maintenance Foreman after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of College Park Baptist Church.
Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his parents James P. Terry and Alma Free Terry; beloved wife, Helen Terry; and son, William Dale Cheatwood. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Verdette North; brother, Leon Terry; grandchildren, Terry Dale Cheatwood (Ana), Dana Vinson (Ronnie), William Dale Cheatwood, Jr., and Jonathan Jordan; 10 great-grandchildren, Amber, Lauren, Lindsay, Brent, Bryce, Destiny, Daisy, Dale, III, Zack, and Zoe; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
