Mr. Lovelace worked as a Mechanical Engineering Draftsman, first with International Paper Company and then with Engineering firms as a contracted personnel.
He loved music and played the Bass Guitar. His family had a gospel quartet of which he played and sang with for 25 years. He loved to travel and fellowship with family and friends.
Mr. Lovelace was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Agnes V. Lovelace, Sr.; his son, James E. Lovelace, III. and his sisters, Linda C. Jenkins and Patricia A. Dicks.
Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Merlene G. Lovelace; a son, Sean E. Lovelace (Phyllis); step son, Ross E. Campbell (Linda); four grandchildren, Lacey Turner (Jeffrey), Sean T. Lovelace, Jenna Campbell and Elliott Campbell; sisters, Mary Christian and Rita Ezell (Tink) also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice and the staff at Saad’s Hospice Retreat for their care and devotion to the family and Mr. Lovelace.

Visitation for Mr. Lovelace will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home – Saraland. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steven Perry Officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, AL.
