James Vernon Bush, Sr. – born January 1, 1945 transcended to a peaceful rest and eternal life on June 25, 2012, at a local hospital. He was a native of Chickasaw, AL and a longtime resident of Kushla, AL. He was a graduate of the Class of 1963 of Vigor High School. James retired from Armour Packing Company in 1978. His true vocation was identified when he became a bus aide for the Mobile County Public School System. He later moved to driving magnet school students and began coordinating trips and driving for the John H. Leflore High School School band. He remained in this position until poor health sidelined him. James found working with young people was his true passion! James was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie V. Bush, Sr. and Lula Smothers Bush; a stepson, James A. Wilson, IV; and a nephew, Jeff Lee. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rene’ Bush, Kushla; two sons, Timothy “Tim” D. (Donna) Bush, Eight Mile, James V. “Jimbo” Bush, Jr., Gulf Shores; one stepdaughter, Kathy Wilson, Mobile; a sister, Sadie (Mack) Cates, Saraland; a brother, Johnnie (Christine) Bush, Jr., Wilmer; four grandchildren, Kristen, Derek and Dustin Bush, all of Eight Mile and James Cordova of Mobile; two nieces, Allison Bush and Mendy Nelson; three nephews, Joey Lee, Bradley Bush and Craig Cates; and other family and friends. James will be greatly missed by everyone. A special thanks to Dr. Barbara Mitchell, Dr. William J. Schulte, Kim, and the wonderful staff at both offices. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, Friday, June 29, 2012 from 12:00 noon until the funeral at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Pallbearers will be Tommy Brown, Bradley Bush, Joey Lee, Ronnie Lee, Harold Lesley, and Gene Pickering. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Standifer and past and present members of the John H. Leflore High School Mighty Marching Rattler Band. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, AL.
