He was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving from 1962-1968. While stationed at NAS Whiting, he served in many roles including, a crash crew fireman and the C.O.’s personal driver. After his honorable service, he continued his education and passion for cars by working his way up as an autobody repairman to eventually owning his own paint and body shop. Throughout many years of his life, Glenn served as a member of Wilson Avenue Baptist Church in ministries that included running a church bus route, maintenance of the buses, serving in Sunday school, the nursey and in the youth department. He had an active role in the church construction and enjoyed playing on Wilson Avenue‘s sports teams. Glenn had a love for general aviation and became a private pilot. He greatly enjoyed a round of golf, bowling, hunting with his boys and grandson, baking cakes and strawberry pies and watching Alabama Football with his family. Known to many as Mr. Lawson, Brother Glenn, and friend, he was known to those most dearest to him as a husband, father, and PawPaw. Glenn worked tirelessly and selflessly to provide for and care for his family. He never met a stranger and although a man of few words, he spoke volumes with his genuine kindness.
