Geraldine "Dean" Powell Southwell

Geraldine “Dean” Powell Southwell – 79, of Semmes, Alabama entered into rest on the evening of Saturday, March 9, 2024. Mrs. Southwell retired from the Mobile County Public School System, where she was a bus driver for more than 30 years. She was beloved by students, whom she had the pleasure of safely transporting to schools, athletic events, and other functions. Mrs. Southwell went by the name “Dean” to all her closest friends. She was also affectionately known as “Nana” by her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her so much joy and happiness.

Mrs. Southwell was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rex Irvin Southwell; mother, Ruth Englett Powell; father, Joe Powell; brother, Welton “Bubba” Beverly; and sister, Cille Powell. She is survived by her two daughters, Audrey Southwell Kramer (Adam) and Teresa Southwell Tucker (Mike); three grandsons, Eric Benjamin Boudreaux (Myrissa), Ryan Mitchell Boudreaux (Starlet), and Austin Jacob Kramer (Emma); three great-grandchildren, Beau, Murphy, and Lucy; and other relatives.

The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
