George B. “Big John” Tarleton – a 95 year-old native of Allen, AL and longtime resident of Creola passed away in Mobile on Sunday, December 29, 2014. He retired from International Paper as a superintendent after more than 30 years of service after which he owned and operated Power Technical Services for over 30 years. Mr. Tarleton was a charter member of Creola First Baptist Church and was a 65 year mason affiliated with Blackwell Lodge.
Mr. Tarleton was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Earline Tarleton; daughter, Kaye Wooldridge; and brother, Duke Tarleton. He is survived by three children, Betty Jewel Cornelius (Jerry), Faye Tarleton, and Phillip Tarleton (Sue); grandchildren, Gary Cornelius (Julie), Scotty Cronelius (Sally), Blaine Tarleton (Elizabeth); brothers, Bobby Tarleton (Edna) and Skeeter Tarleton (Betty); other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, January 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Creola First Baptist Church, 9728 Old Hwy. 43, Creola, AL 36525.
