George Knapp

George D. Knapp – A native of Malcolm, AL and longtime resident of Saraland, AL passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at home. He was President of George D. Knapp Contracting, Inc. Mr. Knapp was a member of Saraland Church of God for over sixty years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eloise S. Knapp; father, Vernon Lee Knapp; and mother, Edna Clarke Knapp. Survivors include three children, Dewey L. (Matilda) Knapp, Sr., Vickey Knapp (Ed) Bingham and George E. (Carmen) Knapp, Sr.; one brother, Crawford Knapp; loving and dear friend, Annie Tarver and family; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland with Rev. Charles Matthews officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dewey L. Knapp, Jr., Aaron Hutcherson, Robby Hutcherson, George Knapp, Jr., Ronnie Knapp and Randy Knapp., Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel “Toby” Kelly, Billy Phillips, Billy Williams, Randolph Tyson, Ken Jordan, Rayford Blackwell and Tommy Stokes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
